September is one of my favorite months! Here in southern California, we’re blessed with the most breathtaking sunsets and the warmth of the ocean never felt better making the transition from summer to fall feel extra special. Lately, I’ve been drawn to earthy tones—sunny yellows and rich, chocolate browns. They’re perfect for this season! In my mood board you'll notice a cozy dining room with wooden chairs and a rustic table, adorned with open books and natural light flooding through the windows, everything about that space represents the essence of September.
I’ve also been on a vintage hunt, picking up nostalgic interior design and vintage cookbooks from the ’90s. Back when books were the go-to for inspiration—before Instagram and Pinterest. I still find joy in scouring local thrift stores and libraries for these gems, slowly building a personal collection and curating pieces for my Etsy shop. There’s something about vintage coffee table books—their look, feel, graphics, and even their scent—that’s just irresistible! Maybe I’m a bit obsessed, but I truly appreciate the history and beauty they hold. The plaid showing in the spread came from a book. They also make great gifts!
This month, I’ve rekindled an old hobby: junk journaling. It’s something I used to do before kids, and it’s been such a joy to return to it. If you haven’t tried it, it’s basically creative therapy—relaxing and meaningful. You can use scraps of paper, shopping bags, cards, magazine clippings, stickers, fabric pieces, and your Instax photos—essentially, anything you’d normally throw away. For me, it’s the perfect way to create something tangible and memorable. Even my three-year-old has joined in, and we’ve been journaling together. It’s the cutest, messiest thing and I love it!
I’ve also taken a new leap this month by posting on Substack. Called it Ode to Olgas Abode. I love poetry, words, and books, so this platform feels like the perfect place to share my heart through lyrical poetry. I'll be featuring an art piece that correlates with my poem.
Supporting small businesses is something I value, especially when they're women owned and focused on sustainability. It's something I genuinely enjoy doing. My latest purchase is a two-tone ring and chunky rope earrings from a new brand called Daughter Club which I discovered on Tik Tok. I love mixing metals and these pieces will fit perfectly into my collection, I cant wait to wear them!
I'm all for wearing oversized blazers, I have a couple vintage ones from last year I'm most definitely will be wearing those this fall. Adding chic statement accessories, blending vintage and modern fashion pieces, making outfits look effortlessly.
